By Car

The campus of Ruhr University Bochum is located near the motorway junction Bochum/Witten, where the A43 connects with the A44. Take the exit Bochum-Querenburg / Universität (exit 19) and follow the signs to “Ruhr-Universität.” Continue on Universitätsstraße and take the turnoff “Uni Mitte” to reach the central campus area.

By Bus & Train

Travel by train to Bochum Central Station. From there, take the underground line U35 towards “Hustadt / Universität” and exit at the stop ‘Ruhr-Universität’. The U35 runs every 5 minutes on weekdays and takes about 9–10 minutes to the university. After exiting the station, cross the pedestrian bridge to reach the campus.

By Plane

The nearest major airport is Düsseldorf Airport (DUS). From the terminal, take the SkyTrain (about 5 minutes) to the airport railway station, then board a regional train (RE) to Bochum Central Station (approximately 30 minutes). From there, take the U35 underground line to “Ruhr-Universität” as described above.

Meet experts from startups, business, and science—and spend three hours working together to develop initial ideas for real water challenges.

The mini hackathon “Mission Water” is aimed at students and graduates who are interested in water-related issues at the interface of science, business, and innovation. In a compact, three-hour event, current challenges in the water sector will be addressed and worked on together in interdisciplinary teams.

Following an introductory panel discussion with experts from research, business, and start-ups, participants will develop initial solutions to practical water challenges, for example in the areas of drinking water supply, efficiency improvement, and sustainable use of water resources. Supported by structured methods of idea development and expert feedback from mentors, research results will be translated into application-oriented business ideas.

In addition to content-related work, the event also offers opportunities for professional exchange and networking with stakeholders from science and practice.
