By Car

The campus of Ruhr University Bochum is located near the motorway junction Bochum/Witten, where the A43 connects with the A44. Take the exit Bochum-Querenburg / Universität (exit 19) and follow the signs to “Ruhr-Universität.” Continue on Universitätsstraße and take the turnoff “Uni Mitte” to reach the central campus area.

By Bus & Train

Travel by train to Bochum Central Station. From there, take the underground line U35 towards “Hustadt / Universität” and exit at the stop ‘Ruhr-Universität’. The U35 runs every 5 minutes on weekdays and takes about 9–10 minutes to the university. After exiting the station, cross the pedestrian bridge to reach the campus.

By Plane

The nearest major airport is Düsseldorf Airport (DUS). From the terminal, take the SkyTrain (about 5 minutes) to the airport railway station, then board a regional train (RE) to Bochum Central Station (approximately 30 minutes). From there, take the U35 underground line to “Ruhr-Universität” as described above.

Academic networking in Eastern Europe and Central Asia

The Liaison Office Eastern Europe/Central Asia (EECA) is the central platform of the University Alliance Ruhr (UA Ruhr) for strategic cooperation with partners in Eastern Europe and Central Asia. It specifically promotes academic exchange and strengthens the international presence of Ruhr University Bochum, TU Dortmund University and the University of Duisburg-Essen in the region.

Our tasks

Scientific and academic networking in Eastern Europe and Central Asia:

As the central point of contact for the University Alliance Ruhr (UA Ruhr), the Liaison Office for Eastern Europe/Central Asia (EECA) coordinates strategic cooperation with partners in Eastern Europe and Central Asia. It supports academic exchange and increases the international visibility of the three UA Ruhr universities in the region.

Representation of the UA Ruhr in the region:

As a regional representative office, we strengthen the visibility of the UA Ruhr in Eastern Europe, the South Caucasus and Central Asia and maintain dialogue with universities, ministries and other stakeholders.

Support for joint projects:

We support and coordinate bilateral and multilateral projects - from research collaborations and conferences to exchange and funding programs.

Management of the Study Bridge program:

We are responsible for the Studienbrücke program at the UA Ruhr, which prepares high-achieving students specifically for studying in Germany - from selection and support to integration into their studies.
