Tasks of the Liaison Office

The Liaison Office promotes cooperation between the University Alliance Ruhr and Eastern Europe, the South Caucasus and Central Asia, and strengthens the international visibility of the Ruhr region as a centre of science.

Welcome!

The Ruhr University Bochum, the Technical University of Dortmund and the University of Duisburg-Essen have been cooperating strategically and successfully in the University Alliance Ruhr (UA Ruhr) since 2007. With over 120,000 students and around 1,300 professors, the UA Ruhr is one of the largest and most productive scientific locations in Germany.

To strengthen international cooperation, the UA Ruhr maintains three liaison offices: the Liaison Office Eastern Europe/Central Asia (EECA) is responsible for cooperation in Eastern Europe, the South Caucasus and Central Asia, the Liaison Office New York is responsible for North America, and the Liaison Office São Paulo represents the UA Ruhr in Latin America.

The Liaison Office EECA represents the three partner universities of the UA Ruhr in its target region, increases the visibility of the Ruhr area as an innovative research and science location, and promotes sustainable academic exchange between East and West.

The alumni meeting at the University of Duisburg-Essen brought together international talents, provided exciting insights into the region's innovation ecosystem and an inspiring exchange within our network.

Studienbrücke's anniversary year culminated in the alumni meeting at the University of Duisburg-Essen. Our network has continued to develop over the past 10 years - and the meeting impressively demonstrated how strong the connections between our alumni, students and partners are today.

The insight into the work of the BRYCK Startup Alliance, whose initiatives provide decisive impetus for the innovation ecosystem in the Ruhr region, was particularly enriching. For our alumni, this offered an inspiring perspective on the dynamics that are currently shaping the region.

The exchange with our partners, including the Goethe-Institut e.V. and the DAAD, also provided valuable ideas for future projects. The international student community of Studienbrücke shows time and again how impulses from all over the world flow back into the Ruhr region and enrich cooperation within the University Alliance Ruhr.

A particular highlight of the meeting was the Science Slam, in which our talented students presented their creativity, clarity and passion - impressive proof of why they achieve such outstanding results in their studies. We look forward to the upcoming projects and to welcoming more regions of the world to the Studienbrücke next year.
