Network with experts from German universities and research institutions and play an active role in shaping the future of scientific cooperation with Central Asia.

The kick-off conference of the German University and Science Forum Central Asia will take place at the German National Academy of Sciences Leopoldina in Halle (Saale) from February 23 to 25, 2026. The event marks the beginning of a new network of scientists and teachers from German universities and research institutions who wish to deepen existing cooperation with Central Asia or establish new partnerships.

The two-day conference in the "from lunch to lunch" format is organized by Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg (MLU) and its representative office in Kazakhstan (CASIB). It is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space (BMFTR) and the project management organization PT-DLR. One thematic focus is on a block of events organized by the BMFTR on university and scientific cooperation with the Central Asian states.

The program will be complemented by a supporting program for networking and professional exchange, in which accompanying persons can also participate. Participation in the event is free of charge.
