About the study bridge

Studienbrücke is a preparatory education program supported by German partner universities in North Rhine-Westphalia, Brandenburg and Thuringia. In cooperation with the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and the Goethe-Institut, the program enables high-achieving international school leavers a targeted entry into a Bachelor's degree course at a German partner university.

The path to studying in Germany

The program prepares participants for studying in Germany in terms of language, technical language and learning culture. The focus is on Bachelor's degree courses in the STEM subjects (mathematics, computer science, natural sciences, technology) and economics. In addition to subject-specific preparation, Studienbrücke also imparts knowledge of the German teaching, learning and campus culture and facilitates entry into the social and academic environment of the universities.
After successfully completing all program modules and obtaining a school-leaving certificate in their home country, participants can apply for a place at selected German partner universities.

The Studienbrücke is based on an amendment to the Higher Education Act in North Rhine-Westphalia, which opens up new access routes for international prospective students. While applicants from non-EU countries previously often had to complete a course of study in their home country or a year at a preparatory college with a subsequent assessment test, the amendment to the law allows direct access to higher education under defined conditions after obtaining a university entrance certificate.

The University Alliance Ruhr is a central partner of Studienbrücke. The management of the program, which is linked to UA Ruhr ADC, is actively involved in the design and implementation of the program and cooperates closely with the Goethe-Institut and the DAAD.
