Target regions

Eastern Europe

Eastern Europe is undergoing profound political and social upheaval, which is also shaping international academic cooperation. The UA Ruhr is involved in the region with a particular focus on solidarity, support for academics at risk and the expansion of long-term university partnerships - especially with Ukraine and the Baltic states.

Central Asia is developing into a strategically important future region for international university and research cooperation. Dynamic reform processes, growing science systems and a strong interest in international exchange offer a variety of points of contact for the UA Ruhr, particularly in Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.

South Caucasus

The South Caucasus is characterized by transformation processes and geopolitical tensions, in which science plays an important role for dialogue, stability and institutional development. The UA Ruhr strengthens its partnerships in Georgia and Armenia and promotes cooperation in research, teaching and the promotion of young researchers.
