Putting Knowledge into Practice:
Technology Transfer and Innovation in the DniproNRW Project
How can scientific findings be translated into innovative applications? And how can universities, companies, and regional stakeholders work together to create new opportunities for structural change?
The Transfer and Innovation track of DniproNRW Science Bridge strengthens the exchange between the University Alliance Ruhr and the Dnipro region regarding knowledge and technology transfer, entrepreneurship, and regional innovation ecosystems. The focus is on structures and networks that connect academia and industry and promote the translation of research findings into practical applications.
Both regions share a strong industrial and scientific foundation as well as the challenge of actively shaping transformation processes. The bilateral exchange makes it possible to share experiences, learn from one another, and create new points of contact for long-term cooperation between academia, industry, and the region.
Insights into the Innovation Landscape of the Ruhr Region
In August 2026, the Ukrainian delegation visited various institutions in the Ruhr region, including the TechnologieZentrumDortmund, the BRYCK Startup Alliance, and the NanoEnergieTechnikZentrum (NETZ) at the University of Duisburg-Essen. The focus was on different approaches to knowledge and technology transfer, the promotion of startups, and collaboration between academia and industry. The exchange provided an opportunity to learn about regional innovation structures, share experiences, and explore prospects for stronger cooperation between the Ruhr region and the Dnipro region.
